Bears and Fire Hazards and Food Drives—An email from SCE President
Hello neighbors!
A few things to be aware of in our community:
First, there have been several BEAR SIGHTINGS in Santa Catalina Estates. I am aware of sightings on Chula Vista and Camino de Fray Marcos. If you see the bear, please report it to Arizona Game and Fish, Tucson office 520-628-5376 or main number 602-942-3000.
Second, on October 25th, a memorial lantern was observed drifting through the neighborhood near Camino Abbey and Camino Arturo. It was a paper lantern with a piece of flaming coal in the basket that turned it into a small version of a hot air balloon. It should go without saying that this is a FIRE HAZARD not only to our beautiful (and DRY) desert landscape, but also to our homes. Thankfully, the lantern was noticed by a diligent homeowner who tracked the object until it landed in a driveway and could be extinguished. Please do not launch fire into the sky for any reason.
And last! On Monday, November 24th at 8 am, our HOA will have a food drive to benefit the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. Please have nonperishable food items out by your mailbox by 8 am on the 24th, and we will be by to collect them for delivery to the food bank that day. We will provide more information as we get closer to the 24th, including an address where you can drop items off ahead of time.
